Hello there and thanks for turning in for today’s post. It has been a while since I have last shown any activity online. I just wanted to leave a few words on recent events. Going further, i’ll also be tackling the current state and future plans for my entire web appearance.
I thought it would be a good idea to start this off by explaining what exactly this new domain’s purpose is. You are currently viewing what i decided to call, “drof’s Notes”. Keeping it simple, it basically is the personal counterpart of my primary blog, which known and accessible under the path https://blog.drof.space.
You see, because i like keeping things separate; I decided to put any non-technically oriented posts onto a separate domain. My intent with this is to avoid polluting my primary blog with content that is rather personal than technical.
So, In order to get things going, lets start by talking about the recent events.
Domain Expiration
Even though analytics show me that my site was barely visited outside specific niche communities and a handful of individuals: Some of you might have noticed that by the beginning of September 2026, my domains had simply shown a parking page that was operated by my registrar. Obviously, the blog was therefore no longer accessible. Just like any other services i have been operating up until this point.
The reason for that was pretty straightforward; I simply didn’t know if i should even renew the domain in first place. My last post had been a little more than half a year ago now, and I have long quit the games and hobbies that have yielded me a lot of content in the past.
I ultimately ended up renewing the domain. Regardless of my doubts, just 2 days before it expired for good. I didn’t do it for anything besides wanting to archive a good piece of my public web appearance and portfolio, if you could even call it that. So you could technically say that drof.space is back. And yeah, the website itself is absolutely functional from what i can tell. However, what hasn’t managed to come back is my old self.
Future Plans
Right now, i do not want to raise any false hopes of new content arriving anytime soon, at least when it comes to my primary blog. I’m not ready to tackle the question of whether i will return to my usual, technically focused content. Until then, expect to see slightly more frequent posts at drof’s Notes. Besides personal stuff, i’m also planning to release content aimed at broader networking.
Something that i’m currently working on is a post about how i approached the hosting of drof.space in the past years. And also how i handle it right now. This might be interesting to cover, because an archived low-visitor blog no longer demands anything beefy infrastructure wise.
